Due to several factors, it had become clear to both my wife and myself that our marriage of 7 years was coming to an end. We obviously discussed this in-depth ourselves and then went on to attend 6 sessions with a qualified Marriage Counsellor. Having had limited success on both fronts we sought out the services of Dean as a last resort.
The professionalism and independence that Dean provided was invaluable to both of us. The peaceful and thoughtful mediation gave us enormous insights into our own respective behaviours and proclivities. Without judgement he was able to coax honest answers out of us, without ever putting words in our mouths. We both knew that the children (then aged 5 and 2) were the main priority, but it was certainly reassuring to hear this sentiment reinforced by a professional.
My wife and I amicably divorced the following year. This was the best result for all concerned, most importantly for our children. We continue to be on very good terms and she has re-partnered. More importantly, we enjoy friendly, cooperative arrangements regarding shared custody of the children and Child Support.
In regard to our individual situation we have absolutely no doubt that divorce was the best option for us, and there are no regrets from either party. Dean’s work helped us to better understand the toxic patterns of communication that were leaving us both hurt and resentful of one another. The inevitable end of our marriage could have ended in estrangement as well as messy and expensive court battles, and would have had a detrimental effect on our beautiful children. Dean gave us the tools to move forward and achieve the best possible outcome. I could not recommend his services more, my ex-wife agrees. Our children are thriving, and for that alone we will be forever grateful for his services.
